While polyurea had already proven its strength in coating pipelines and other industrial applications, epoxy had been used as the common solution for concrete coatings but was prone to yellowing, cracking, delamination, and long cure times. Patrick saw an opportunity to adapt and refine polyurea as the go-to solution for concrete surfaces.

He didn’t just bring polyurea into the industry; he engineered a better version of it. His advancements included developing a roller-applied polyurea formula instead of spray-applied. This was a major breakthrough as it eliminated the health risks associated with airborne isocyanates, creating a safer application process without compromising performance.

The result was a superior concrete coating – more flexible, longer-lasting, and capable of bonding more effectively than traditional epoxy-based solutions. Patrick’s innovation also introduced the ability to install a floor in just one day, with a 24-hour return to service, something that was previously unheard of. This game-changing advancement was so impactful that he secured a patent for the “Same Day Coating System.”

Since 2014, the Garage Force team has continued to build on these foundational innovations, emerging as a trailblazer in the concrete coatings industry as others have followed the path laid out by our early work.
